History

2The Fisher Family Scholarship Fund is a culmination of various scholarships originally established in memory of members of the Fisher Family. The first renewable scholarship was established in honor of Ollie Fisher in 2001. Ollie, a lifelong resident of St. Louis, Missouri attended the historic Charles Sumner High School in St. Louis and, after serving his country, graduated from Lincoln University (Jefferson City, Mo.) with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Physics and Mathematics.

Ollie’s commitment to education and his alma maters lead to the establishment of the Ollie Fisher Scholarship by his family members and the Lincoln University St. Louis Alumni Chapter. The purpose of the scholarship was to support students graduating from Sumner High School that wanted to attend Lincoln University. The second scholarship was established in 2008 to honor the memory of Janet Fisher Wallace. Janet was a phenomenal educator, community leader and mentor to many youth in the St. Louis region. She succumbed to ovarian cancer in February 2008. Janet was a member of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Alpha Zeta Chapter, Inc. in St. Louis, Missouri where she co-founded their youth organization Future Intellectual Leaders (FILS). A community service scholarship was established by her family and Iota Phi Lambda, Alpha Zeta Chapter, Inc. in her honor to support St. Louis area youth as they matriculated to college. The Fisher Family has committed to donate all funds necessary to cover operating expenses thus insuring one-hundred percent (100%) of all other monies raised will go directly to fund scholarships. We invite you to join us in what has, and will continue to be, an honor and privilege to provide financial assistance to our youth seeking to improve themselves and our country by pursuing their goals of higher education. The Fisher Family Scholarship Fund is a 501(c) (3) entity.
